Brisbane portrait prize

My portrait of local visual artist, Numpty was selected as a finalist for the 2021 Brisbane Portrait Prize.

Power Clown is a portrait of local emerging artist Numpty. Numpty works on reclaimed and recycled canvases and paints in a naïve style. His work has been featured in a number of underground art shows and caught the eye of the photographer when Numpty was still in school. The use of expired analogue film was a deliberate choice as it fits well with Numpty’s use of found canvases.

“The age of the film has been impacted by the backing paper adding texture and text to the portrait. The posture of the artist reflects his style as well as his tongue in cheek attitude. Power Clown was added to the portrait by Numpty via a tablet and e-pen.

BAD OLIVE

My works were selected for inclusion in the Bad Olive - Art - Fashion - Sound event.
As the event was hosted on Halloween I selected a number of night shots of the derelict and dystopian aspects of my hometown.

House of Iris - BSAF

Three of my long exposure night shots of Brisbane were selected for inclusion in the House of Iris exhibition as part of the Brisbane Street Art Festival (BSAF) 2022. The selected photos depict the darker and less familiar side of Australia's third largest city, painting them in a different light. By allowing the film to absorb light over and extended period of time allows colours to be unearthed that are not visible to the naked eye.

Long May You Run , zine and exhibition was the culmination of a year long project shooting classic cars. The cars were shot where they were found. On the street. In garages. At car shows.

The first of edition of the zine sold out and the opening night of the exhibition was at capacity and all except two prints were sold.
